Ooh you crafty bumper
The start of a Felt frenzy!
I'm not in to pretty dainty, so saw something similar to this in a shop and stole the idea. I like the clouds and the raindrops will be able to go at different lengths hanging from the clouds.
Of course no mobile could be complete without a Golden Snitch or two as well.
I'm usually crap at drawing, but after an hour or so drawing with Lu I nailed the little templates. Don't mock, even a cloud is difficult for me to draw - and that's after 4 years at art school! They do look a little bit like bunny rabbits.
All the pieces are opposites, so a light front will have a dark back etc. I think that's high contrast enough - plus I only had one sheet of white and black, so had to pick colours!
Now it's over to Luis to build the wooden arms so I can hang them and fix it all to the mobile spin thing. I'll post another picture later once the cot is up and ready to go.
On my less energetic days - which seem to be the majority at the moment, I've turned to the sewing machine.
I've read that baby can only see in black & white (or high contrast) for the first few months, so figured I could make a mobile for the cot myself. That way we can change the toys every few months to keep things interesting.
I have a stack of felt pieces (Amazon, which only cost about £6 for the stack) so felt it would be to play around and learn how to use the sewing machine.

As a first project on the new sewing machine, it wasn't a very neat start. But by the last few I was into a swing. So much so that I'd get carried away and kept forgetting to add the string before sewing everything up.
I really like the way the Snitch's wings turned out - they actually look like wings!
